Endometriosis surgery is a treatment option for women suffering from endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the womb. This can lead to chronic pain, infertility, and other complications. Surgery is typically recommended when other treatments, like hormonal therapy or pain medication, have not been effective, are not acceptable, or are not indicated.
Surgery is performed through excision of endometriosis and while surgery often provides significant improvement, endometriosis and/or pain can persist or recur. The long-term management of endometriosis often requires a combination of holistic, medical, and surgical approaches that are available through Oxford Gynaecology.
